Join Eve Miller PSA, IAPS/MC to broaden your art skills with 10 steps for successful pastel landscapes. Over 3-days, we will be working together to broaden your painting skills and empower your personal artistic style on UART Premium Sanded Pastel Paper.

Compose & design your painting- Before you start painting, consider the overall composition and design of your piece. This will help you create a strong foundation for your artwork.

Work with shapes- Start by identifying he basic shapes in your scene and use them as guide for your painting.

Values and Edges – Learn how to identify lights and darks and work with values to create a more dynamic painting and control your edges between shapes.

Color – Color is a powerful tool for creating mood and emotion in your artwork. Learn how to use color to your advantage and how to mix and blend colors to create a harmonious palette.

Mark Making- Your mark-making is the unique way you apply the pastel to the paper. Learn how to create interesting and impressive marks to add energy and movement to your paintings.

Edit and Simplify- Sometimes less is more. Learn how to edit and simply your scene to create a stronger, more impactful painting.

Interpret the scene and create an emotional response- Learn how to interpret your scene to create an emotional response to the viewer. Learn how to use color, composition and mark-making to achieve this.

During the workshop, we will have live demos, one or two per day, following by plenty of painting time and individual attention at the easel. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a better understanding of pastel painting techniques and how to create a successful painting that tells a story and evokes an emotional response in the viewer.
