Join Master pastelist, Marlene Wiedenbaum, for a two-day plein air workshop with an emphasis on looking at the landscape, discovering composition and determining the light source.
The workshop will begin with a daily demonstration, individual attention is stressed to gain ease with the medium, tools, and the elements in the plein air experience. The workshop concludes with a group share & discussion.
DAY 1 –Kopavi Studios at Rock Hill: 43 private acres in the lower Hudson Valley with inspirational views of the famed Shawangunk Ridge, a pond, a barn, meadows, gardens & varied wildlife.
DAY 2– Rondout Creek: A 63.3 mile-long tributary of the Hudson River in Ulster and Sullivan Counties, NY. Students will meet at a local scenic location on the Rondout Creek in High Falls, NY and walk along an idyllic path to the low falls.
About the artist: Marlene Wiedenbaum, PSA-MP, has exhibited internationally, including the International Pastel Artists Invitational in Taipei, Taiwan and the Xian Art Museum, China. As a result, her work is among six International Master Pastelists featured in two text books commissioned by the Taiwanese government.
Wiedenbaum has been profiled and featured in Art Times and American Artist Magazine. She teaches pastel classes & plein air workshops in the Hudson Valley. An Award winning Signature Member and MASTER Pastelist of the Pastel Society of America, she is also an elected Member of the PSA Board of Govenors. An Elected Member of the Audubon Artists Org., Marlene is also an Active Member of such prestigious arts organizations as the Woodstock Artists Association & Museum, NAPPAP, NYPAP.
