Juror

Tony Allain

Award winning painter, instructor and author Tony Allain has been painting for over 40 years. A self-taught painter of colour, light and movement with a complete understanding of his surroundings. Born and raised on Guernsey in the Channel Islands he moved to paint and live in Cornwall, UK to capture the unique clarity of light living on the peninsular of the West Country. Tony has exhibited extensively over the years, his work can be found in many leading galleries as well as private and corporate collections worldwide, including the Maritime Museum, Guernsey and Queen Mary 2, Cunard Ocean Liner. He has exhibited with The Pastel Society of America in New York, the  Royal Society of Marine Artists, London, The International Pastel Exhibition, Suzhou, China and the Pastel Society, Mall Galleries, London. A move to New Zealand in 2006 proved to be a turning point in his career with the acceptance as a Master of the Pastel Artists of New Zealand. His work is regularly featured in The Artist Magazine, the Pastel Journal and the Practique des Arts Tony now lives and works from his studio in Scotland.

COMPETITION'S RULES

The contest is open to pastel artists over the age of 16 all over the world. Please read carefully to make sure your work meets the following entry requirements:

  1. Works must be done on UART paper only. Works not done on UART paper will be removed from the competition and no refund will be made.
  2. Works must be done in dry or oil pastel. Works including mixed media have to be 80% dry or oil pastels.
  3. Work must be original, not copied from other artists or published materials.
  4. All work must have been created within the last 12 months. Works that have been submitted on previous UART pastel competitions will be removed and no refund will be made
  5. Works done under supervision (such as in a workshop or class) are not eligible.
  6. Fees are as follow: - $25 for first submission - $10 for each additional submission - No limits on submissions - Fees are non-refundable. Please make sure to double check art before uploading. - Please upload all your pictures at once to take advantage of the $10 additional price.
  7. Please pay close attention to providing us with the correct title to your paintings. When uploading several pictures at once, please make sure to add the right title to the right painting.
