3-Day Workshop with Jennifer Evenhus: “The Beauty of Imperfection – What if . . . “
Location: The Roaming Studio, Portland OR
Date: Friday April 1 – Sunday April 3, 2016
Time: Friday 6pm-9pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am-5pm
Instructor: Jennifer Evenhus
Cost: $343.87 (including fees and taxes)
Students will explore fearless mark-making, negative painting, exaggeration, simplification and bold color in this intense 3-day workshop taught by PSA-Master Pastelist, Jen Evenhus.
Plan to throw perfection out the window, giving you permission to explore, experiment and play with pastels and other materials like ink, markers, brushes and charcoal in a loose impressionist abstract style. We will manipulate shapes, composition, space, “pretty” and “ugly” color, line and happy little accidents to reveal and recognize the “Accidental Masterpiece” before we cover it up. We’ll ask ourselves “What if . . .” each step of the way – “What if … I moved that stand of trees?” “What if … I painted them red instead of green?” “What if … I used black in my landscape?” “What if … my bananas were pink instead of yellow?”
We will be creating exciting underpaintings, sketching for composition and value, discussion, mini-demos, painting, timed exercises, critiques, individual coaching and more painting. We won’t create pretty pictures, we’ll produce energetic, show-stopping works of art!
